Baptiste, Fasching and Armia...not bad for 3-4 years down the road on RW. Who is going to feed them the puck is one question that will be fun to watch unfold.

McDavid, Reinhart, and Hodgson will do just fine

THE BUFFALO NEWS: Mike Harrington reports the Sabres could be tempted in selecting defenseman Aaron Ekblad in this year’s NHL draft. The Sabres hold the number two pick. Harrington cites two sources claiming Sabres GM Tim Murray was chatting with Panthers GM Dale Tallon last week. Tallon is willing to shop his pick (first overall). Harrington speculates over what it could cost the Sabres to land the first overall pick, including packaging a couple of second rounders, offering up next year’s first round pick acquired from the NY Islanders, or shopping a current roster player like Christian Ehrhoff or Tyler Myers.

Reinhart & Grigorenko are both puck distributors first, on the offensive end.

That might be your answer going into 2016...

All along with whomever the draft next yr. of course, hopefully a McDavid or Eichel.

Mind you that McDavid isn't exactly a "goal scorer" either, though Eichel is of that cloth.

Seems TM has his sights on his pick and doesn't want to risk losing it if the Panthers were to trade it someone else. Now the plot thickens.

I see no need to waste assets to move up 1 spot. Also Harrington is a hack.

That would set the rebuild timeline back a year or two, wouldn't you hate that?

Myers stays and Hoff needs to be here another season to help till the youngins are ready to take over . That could be 2 more seasons imo. And to lose a couple picks in the upcoming drafts would indeed set us back a bit.

What if it was the STL 1st rd'er?

I could live with that.

Such a move would show dash. If the Sabres scouting staff sees Ekblad as the only franchise player in a then draft, go get him!

Ekblad could make an elite shutdown pair with Myers!!!
Ekblad shut down McDavid this yr!

And Erhoff/Pysyk, Risto/Zadorov, McCabe/Webber leaves you plenty of depth use while transitioning these guys to the NHL by 2016. (And who knows, if all goes well then maybe they'll be willing to shop Ehrhoff in 2016?)

Stabilizing this franchise is the name of the game right now, and the oraginazation has the ammunition to do so. We already have a boatload of picks at some point, it becomes an issue of " Quality vs. Quantity".

No one in the Sabres organization tells Harrington squat . He is a hack , plain and simple . His writing is all far fetched speculation .

We haven't had a top forward pick since sneaky Pete. We don't get that opportunity too often. Our top forwards are Ennis and Hodge at the moment. I say screw Ekblad and and pick the best forward THIS YEAR !

Ekblad/Myers
Risto/McCabe
Pysyk/Zadarov

That would be a ton of potential.

Although we still would need to find a way to score

I mostly agree. Unless they have Ekblad rated way higher than Bennett or Draisaitl... Which I doubt

Vanek was #5 overall I believe. That's in the ballpark.

But I get what your saying.

Thing is, Draft Ekblad now, and your almost certain to land the bigger prize of McDavid/Eichel next year...

Simply because your not infusing the roster with a highly talented offensive forward. Thus remaining in the NHL basement in regards to goal production.

Tim already stated any pick this year will not play on the team next season. Remains to be seen.

I believe he said they wouldn't nessicarily play this season, leaving the door open for whatever presents itself.

Ekblad would for sure IMO.

If they think Ekblad is the only game changer in this draft (and he could be) then he won't really care.

If they really do have him rated that much higher than Bennett or Draisaitl than I could see them taking him if FLA goes Reinhart , however IMO there is no way they move assets to move up for a defensemen

I've stated several times to not be surprised if they take Ekblad. That said, I don't want to see them waste assets to move up one spot. Plus if they move Myers in the deal they had better be getting more back than the top pick. I mean #2 and Myers for #1 is a huge overpayment.
